Multifunctional approach to improve water oxidation performance with MOF-based photoelectrodes

Metal-Organic Frameworks (MOFs) are a group of compounds with high porosity and diverse capabilities in photoelectrochemistry. The use these as photocatalysts photoelectrodes is still strong challenge due to bulk surface recombination issues. To solve this problem, we applied dual strategy simultaneously enhance charge separation catalytic activity MIL-125-NH2 UIO-66-NH2 MOF photocatalysts. Mesoporous TiO2 was used electron-selective contact on the (MOF/TiO2) minimize recombination. On other hand, increase for water oxidation, well-matched Co3(PO4)2 (CoPi) co-catalyst (CoPi/MOF/TiO2) used. obtained results showed that CoPi were introduced structure. photocurrent density 26 times higher compared reference at 1.23 V vs. RHE PEC oxidation artificial seawater, validating developed further photocatalytic photoelectrochemical applications.
